UNCW to Conduct Low-Volume Siren Test July 2

Monday, June 19, 2017

The UNCW Office of Environmental Health & Safety plans to conduct a low-volume “growl” test of the Seahawk Warning Siren System between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. Each siren will emit a very brief sound when tested.

The Seahawk Warning Siren System is an outdoor emergency warning tool that the university uses in conjunction with a number of other resources, such as the UNCW homepage, Facebook, Twitter, campus-wide emails, mass text messages and phone calls to communicate with the campus community during emergencies. EH&S periodically tests the siren system and other emergency communication tools as part of their routine maintenance.
