Surplus Property

UNCW Surplus will be hosting an ON-CAMPUS surplus sale on June 18th, July 16th, September 17th, October 15th, and November 19th. These dates are subject to change. The sale will run from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., and ONLY CASH payments will be accepted. Items sold include, but are not limited to, furniture, office supplies, computers, home goods, decor, books, recreational equipment, and more. We look forward to seeing you there!

The UNCW Surplus Store is located at 1152 Plyler Drive. We have signs placed around campus to help you navigate your way.

The mission of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Surplus Property Services is to ensure the proper discarding or reallocating of university property and equipment which has become obsolete or no longer essential to the department.

Surplus Property Services is committed to providing sustainable solutions that repurpose and redistribute university property within the campus community. Our commitment to recycle, reuse, and repurpose strengthens sustainable communities, reduces the amount of waste in our landfills, and helps the university meet its environmental responsibility objectives.

Surplus Property encompasses all university property no longer in use by a university department. University departments transfer all property and equipment to Surplus Property as soon as it is determined that the property is no longer needed.

Departments are not authorized to transfer or sell any state property, except to other university departments.

Departments may not sell, discard or give away state property, nor is it to be used for personal use. Property not re-assigned to university departments is disposed of, according to guidelines of the NC State Surplus Property Agency.

UNCW follows the surplus sale priority classification guidelines listed below:

1st Priority: All state agencies, such as the Department of Transportation, the Department of Education, and Cape Fear Community College.

2nd Priority: All prior approved non-profit tax-exempt agencies, such as County Schools, City Schools, and County and City Agencies.

3rd Priority: General public, such as individuals and wholesalers.
