- Waitlist Registration
Waitlisting assists in maximizing enrollment numbers in individual course sections. It allows institutions to track excess demand for seats in courses where enrollment limits and waitlists are full.
Waitlist Process
Waitlist Policy
The waitlist allows students to hold a place in line for closed courses. As seats open due to drops, withdrawals, or increased capacity, students are notified in order of their waitlist position.
How It Works
- Students join the waitlist through the Registration Portal (first-come, first-served).
- When a seat opens, the next student on the list receives an email notification to their UNCW account.
- Students have 24 hours to register (reduced to 4 hours starting two days before drop/add).
- If the student does not register within the timeframe, they are removed from the waitlist, and the next student is notified.
Key Rules
- Students can only waitlist one section of a course.
- Waitlisted courses count in time conflict checks.
- Overrides (Closed Class, Permission) cannot be used for courses with waitlists.
- Students may drop from a waitlist anytime through the portal.
Viewing Waitlist Status
- Students: Check position and deadlines on Student Detail Schedule in the Registration Portal.
- Faculty: View waitlists in Self-Service.
