An experiential trip to the United Kingdom allowed UNCW students to learn and explore cultural and educational similarities and differences between the US and the UK. UNCW and the University of Hertfordshire (UH) have developed a relationship through our common reading programs (Synergy: Common Reading program and Connect: Common Reading Programme), as well as a buddy program. In the 2016-2017 academic year, this project connected these universities through the International Buddy Programme which focuses on providing students with a global perspective on education and beyond.
Students in French 319: Introduction to the Francophone World worked on a semester-long research project in partnership with New Tactics in Human Rights, an international, multilingual nonprofit human rights organization. Through interactive training and workshops with New Tactics in Human Rights, these students designed, produced, disseminated, and reported on applied research into innovative and verifiable tactics in use by human rights organizations in the French-speaking world.
