Kevin Day, Associate Director of Bands at White Oak High School, is a native of Winterville, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education Degree and a Certificate in Jazz Studies from East Carolina University. After graduating from college, Mr. Day did two separate tours with Carnival Cruise Lines as a professional trumpeter on the ship's big band. He received his Master of Music Degree from Louisiana State University, while working as the teaching assistant to the jazz department. He taught classes in jazz improvisation as well as applied trumpet and applied jazz to freshmen students. Since becoming a teacher, Mr. Day's concert ensembles have received consistent superior ratings at the district music performance adjudication events. Mr. Day is an active committee member of NCMEA, as well as the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Phi Beta Mu and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Men's Music Fraternity.

Mr. Day is an active freelance trumpeter, performing with orchestras, jazz bands and various other ensembles throughout North and South Carolina. Mr. Day resides in Jacksonville with his wife Pamela, their sons Tommy, Michael and Joey, and their dog, Lucas.
