UNCW Military Collaboration

"UNCW was founded in 1947 as a way to help returning GSs. More than 75 percent of our enrollment back then were GIs who served in WWII. Helping the military with its educational needs is in our DNA." --Mr. Bill Kawczynski

In staying true to this call, UNCW established a presence at Coastal Carolina Community College and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in 1995. The Office of Military Affairs was established by the UNCW Board of Trustees and UNCW Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli in March 2016.

Camp Lejeune Leadership Seminar

The Office of Military Affairs presents a breakout session on topics in higher education at the Camp Lejeune Leadership Seminar, a three-day workshop offered twice a year to military-connected spouses from Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River, MCAS Cherry Point, and MCAS Beaufort, SC.

Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Professional Network

UNCW has a chapter of the Military Spouse Professional Network (MSPN), which helps military spouses with career connections. For more information, email or join them on Facebook and LinkedIn

PsychArmor and PsychHub

PsychArmor bridges the civilian-military divide by ensuring that every American has the tools and resources needed to engage effectively with service members and veterans. They recruit nationally recognized subject matter experts to create and deliver online courses about issues relevant to the military and veteran communities. Self-paced courses are designed to provide an understanding of military and veteran culture to healthcare providers, employers, educators, volunteers, caregivers, and families.

UNCW also partners with PsychHub, an organization that seeks to provide free educational resources to veterans and their family members. Try their Transition School Course portfolio to help you wrap your mind around your transition out of the military.
