
MarineQuest’s environmental and community service program is catching some waves this summer! Learn to surf while also completing 16 hours of community service. Projects include coastal restoration efforts, citizen science initiatives and sharing the wonders of the ocean with undeserved kids. The fun doesn't stop there! Brush up on your leadership skills and learn how to be a strong team leader while serving and learning to surf.
- Must have completed 8th grade and turn 14 by June 1st. Must not turn 18 before July 31st.
Field excursions include:
- Tour Wrightsville Beach and Kure Beach
- Visit the UNCW Center for Marine Science
- Learn more about our Coastal Ecosystems
Highlights include:
- Earn 16+ hours of community service while making new friends (A certificate and description of service projects completed will be awarded at Friday parent presentations)
- Daily surfing lessons
- Experience paddle boarding
- Interaction with surfing professionals
- Beach trips
- Beginners surfing contest
- Discussions on coastal/shoreline issues and completion of coastal restoration projects
- Participation in citizen science projects
- Leadership activities including volunteer service with Ocean Cure

Residential Information
The MarineQuest staff is more than happy to pick-up and drop-off students at Wilmington International Airport at no cost. An airline request form is required. Please review our MarineQuest Airline Information webpage for more information.
Residential FAQ's
- Linens are provided - DO NOT bring sheets, pillows, and blankets.
- Laundry facilities are available at no cost - bring detergent.
- No electronic equipment (including cell phones) is allowed.
- You will receive a Welcome Packet with detailed information on what to bring after registering.

1. Does MarinQuest provide a tuition payment plan? Yes, payment plan information is program specific. To establish a payment plan, you will be required to pay your program's minimum deposit at the time of your registration, followed by installments. Full payment will be required by April 1, with additional payment(s) in between.
2. My child will need to fly to Wilmington to attend the program. How do I make this happen? The MarineQuest staff is more than happy to pick-up and drop-off students at ILM at no cost. An airline request form is required. For more information, see our MarineQuest Airline Information Page.
