Where are they Wednesdays: Stories of UNCW Spanish Alumni

Susannah Richardson Class of 2013, Spanish BA

Why did you study Spanish?

After developing an interest in Spanish at an early age, I studied it throughout high school and decided to pursue a Spanish degree in college. At UNCW, I double majored in Spanish and Creative Writing. I thoroughly enjoyed all the courses I took through the Spanish department, and was impressed with the variety of courses offered and by the dedication and quality of the professors and instructors.

How do you use Spanish now?

I currently work as the District Translator and parent liaison for Pender County Schools, where I have worked for almost four years. I am so grateful to be able to use my Spanish skills to support the community and help families be involved in their students' education. I love my job and the relationship I have developed with families across Pender County. Studying Spanish at UNCW helped prepare me for the job world, and I am grateful for all the experience and insight I gained while at UNCW!
