Stories of UNCW Spanish Alumni

Stephanie Tucker Spanish MA, Class of 2014

Why did you study Spanish?

My husband and I were returning to Wilmington after living in Costa Rica and Ecuador for almost three years. He had a job at the hospital and I knew that I wanted to get my masters in Spanish. I was thrilled to find out about UNCW's program!

How do you use Spanish now?

I am a lecturer of Spanish at UNCW, and I use my Spanish in the community as much as possible. My son, Noah, is learning Spanish at the International School at Gregory and I am in charge of the school's bilingual newsletter. I volunteer with my church in their Hispanic outreach program, I have interpreted for the bilingual church service and I have taught Spanish classes to church members hoping to be able to connect and communicate with Spanish speakers in their community.
