Stories of UNCW Spanish Alumni

Why did you study Spanish?

I had a very passionate Spanish 120 instructor at UNCW who got me started on my journey and as I progressed I realized that studying Spanish would be my route to explore, learn and come to understand this world a little bit better.

How do you use Spanish now?

I recently accepted a position as a full-time Spanish instructor at Louisiana State University. I'm very excited to continue teaching introductory level Spanish courses in a hybrid setting in Baton Rouge. Being fluent in Spanish has helped me connect with my current neighbors, co-workers that I have had, along with helping out random people who have a very low level of English. Simple interactions such as translating a phrase for someone in the gas station check out line is a really rewarding feeling.
