Where are they Wednesdays: Stories of UNCW Spanish Alumni
Dr. Dionne Brown Williams Class of 1995 - Spanish BA
Why did you study Spanish?
I was inspired by my high school teacher, Marta Hernandez as well as my college professor Lori Spicher. I wanted to do something to spotlight the uniqueness of cultures while embracing the similarities which link us together as the human race.
How do you use Spanish now?
I taught Spanish and English as a Second Language for a few years. I then became a Spanish interpreter for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. From there I really enjoyed health care and have gone on to pursue a career in health care administration. Being bilingual led me to my passion in healthcare and I now have a doctorate in health care administration.
