Welcome to French and Francophone Studies!

Each year, more than 1,000 UNCW students enroll in French language, culture, literature and film courses. Many of these students continue on to major or minor in French. Other than the traditional BA degree in French, students can choose to do a BA in French with Teacher Licensure (K-12).

Students in the French language program, and those who continue their studies of French as majors and minors, are encouraged to take advantage of one of UNCW's study abroad programs. Students can travel throughout the French-speaking world, including to programs in France (Paris, Cannes and Marseille, for example), Quebec and Senegal.

The curriculum in French and Francophone Studies reflects the fact that French is spoken by more than 300 million people in more than 29 countries across 5 continents.
