Repairs on University-Owned Computers

If you are experiencing issues with your unviersity-owned computer please submit the ITS request located here or contact the TAC at (910) 962-4357.

Repairs on Personal (non-university owned) Computers

TAC Repairs services all brands of computers and does warranty work for computers with Safeware, AppleCare and Dell warranty coverage. They also repair cracked screens on iPhones and iPads. View more details at TAC Repairs.


Standard Software on University-Owned Computers

The following software comes pre-loaded on faculty and staff Windows-based computers:

  • Windows 10
  • Microsoft Office 2016 (If you don't currently have Office 2016 and would like to upgrade, please see instructions in our knowledge base here.)
  • 7-zip
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
  • Chrome
  • Cisco VPN client (laptops/tablets only)
  • Computrace
  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge (Web browser)
  • Windows Defender (antivirus) 

The following software comes pre-loaded on faculty and staff Mac computers:

  • MacOS Sierra, or OSX El Capitan, or OSX Yosemite
  • Microsoft Office 2016
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015
  • Computrace (must be purchased separately from the Dell punch-out)

Optional Software for University-Owned Computers

UNCW has license and/or purchase agreements for the following applications. Some are also available on Horizon, as noted below by an asterisk (*). See each for complete details on how to obtain (and, in some cases purchase) the software:

Note:  UNCW (and most software vendors) support the most recent version and one previous version of a software program, so be sure your software is up-to-date.
