  • Within the housing application, you’ll be asked to complete a questionnaire used for roommate matching during the assignment process. Please answer these questions as accurately as possible. You may also submit the name of a person with whom you wish to room; however, due to space constraints, we cannot always accommodate student requests. Please know that our office does not guarantee any particular building, room, or roommate preferences.
  • If you require a reasonable accommodation that could influence your housing assignment, please contact our  Disability Resource Center to submit your Disability Accommodation Request form as soon as possible.

Step 3 – Receive Your Assignment

  • Most students will receive their assignment prior to the first Orientation session.
  • Once the assignment process is complete, you will receive an email via your UNCW email with instructions on how to view your assignment and roommate information.
  • If for any reason we were unable to fulfill your housing preferences with your initial permanent assignment, you may submit a wish list request for a different roommate or room. The link to this request will be sent out with your housing assignment.  Wishlist requests are dependent on space availability and honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. As such, our office cannot guarantee every wish list request will be fulfilled.

Housing accommodations for students with documented disabilities are determined based on the need for equal opportunity, and not based on a perceived “benefit” to the student. Please note: disability-status does not impact one’s position in the queue (i.e., waitlist); however, should a housing assignment be granted, appropriate accommodations will be addressed. Students currently waiting for on-campus assignments are encouraged to submit Accommodation Request forms while waiting, as this may help expedite necessary adjustments to the room or facility.

Students with disabilities living in UNCW residential buildings who need accommodation in order to have equal access to the housing environment must make their requests known well in advance of their planned move in date to ensure needs can be appropriately met (see the Campus Living Handbook). Request for disability-related accommodations must include the Disability Accommodation Request for University Housing along with appropriate documentation.
