National Residence Hall Honorary

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a service of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. (NACURH). A main component of NRHH is to provide recognition, at the campus, state, regional, and national level to students. NRHH also encourages students' involvement in the residence halls through community service, leadership, social, and educational programs. NRHH is comprised of the top one percent of student leaders who live on campus. At UNC Wilmington our chapter of NRHH is known as the Psi Phi chapter and is made up of 41 student leaders who work to promote the values of the organization.

NRHH is an organization for student leaders who go above and beyond in their residential communities. To be a member of the top 1% of student leaders who live on campus is a great honor. Though not everyone can be a member, we encourage everyone to be involved with NRHH. This can be achieved by volunteering in one of our many service opportunities or attending a National Residence Hall Honorary sponsored event. All students may also recognize others through the process of submitting Of the Months, or OTMs.

NRHH is a national organization that continuously recognizes leaders and is always expanding. Though it only accepts the top 1% of student leaders on campus, NRHH encourages everyone to apply to be a member in the fall and spring semesters to start your National Residence Hall Honorary adventure today. If you do not get in the first time, NRHH encourages you to try again, and to stay involved in the UNC Wilmington community.
  • More About NRHH

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is an organization which represents the top 1% of student leaders living on the University of North Carolina Wilmington campus. The UNC Wilmington chapter is known as Psi Phi. We accept new members based on their involvement in residential communities as well as the campus as a whole, their desire to be part of our organization, and meet necessary criteria like GPA which must be 2.5 or higher.

In 1964, the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. (NACURH) created the National Residence Hall Honorary with the primary focus of recognizing leaders within residence halls. As promoted by the NRHH national website, "A leadership-based honorary comprised of exemplary residential students who value recognition and service." Currently, NRHH thrives on over 200 NACURH affiliated college campuses in the form of student-lead chapters. Each chapter of student leader's values: Leadership, Recognition, and Service. • Our Values

All members of National Resiedence Hall Honorary are leaders across campus. They hold positions such as resident assistants, Residence Hall Association (RHA) Executive Board members, area council executive board members, orientation leaders, and many more.

As an organization, NRHH puts value on serving the community. Throughout the year we host a variety of service projects ranging from helping the homeless in many ways, supporting off-campus non-profits such as Miracle League, working with the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, and support many on-campus initiatives.

A very important part of NRHH is the recognition of others. Through the submission of, Of the Month (OTM's) awards, NRHH is able to recognize the strong individuals and programs on UNC Wilmington's campus. Each month members and campus residents are able to submit OTMs in a variety of categories. One can submit an OTM for their RA, a special program, a friend who did something kind, or a staff/faculty member who makes our campus so amazing. NRHH constantly reminds residents of the power of recognition and the importance of random acts of kindness.
