Marketing Assistant

Job Description:

Work involves performing a range of public communications and/or marketing related work for Housing & Residence Life.  The Marketing Assistant role assists in the development and maintenance of marketing and promotional items within the department. This person will promote Housing & Residence Life activities, events, and schedule posts through social media, publications, and digital signage.  Work involves marketing; planning and attending special events; photography as well as some graphic design and production of materials; public relations and education efforts for departmental programs/initiatives.   Other duties include assisting with annual market analysis, conducting inventory of our marketing closet and also administering our Residence Life resources and equipment inventory and calendar.  This role serves as departmental representatives at involvement fairs, university held special events, and orientation sessions. This role works closely with departments in Housing and Residence Life.

Examples of Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with department branding and recognition efforts such as Tealspotting on Teal Tuesday, Freaker Friday, and other marketing initiatives
  • Assist with departmental graphic design work
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the departmental digital signage
  • Assist with updating content on the departmental social media accounts
  • Assist with inventory control for Marketing Closet and Residence Life Resource Closet
  • Coordinate ResLife Resource Closet request process and calendar
  • Assist with show rooms, housing tours, and tabling during UNCW recruitment events
  • Assist with administrative work for major department events
  • Act as photographer for important department events / activities.
  • Other general duties as assigned by supervisor or other professional staff

General Qualifications & Role Expectations:

  • Must be a UNCW student in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to drive university golf carts to complete various tasks
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the university
  • Expected to maintain confidentiality in regards to information about employees, information received from other staff members, or information discussed as staff
  • Must present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be committed to successful teamwork with the entire Housing & Residence Life staff
  • Expected to be a positive role model at all times as a representative of the Office of Housing & Residence Life and UNCW
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work under time constraints or with a schedule
  • Must be dependable

Compensation

  • $8.25 per hour

Available Hours

  • 10 hours per week depending upon need and your availability

Contingency Clause:

Our employment offer is contingent on UNCW and/or Housing & Residence Life having regular operations in the fall semester.  Should the University or Housing & Residence Life not open or use only online courses then the position and any remuneration will be delayed until such time as we return to normal operations.
