"A periplus (/ˈpɛrɪplʌs/) is a manuscript document that lists the ports and coastal landmarks, in order and with approximate intervening distances, that the captain of a vessel could expect to find along a shore... In that sense the periplus was a type of log." (from Wikipedia)

Published by the Honors Student Media Board, Periplus was the Honors news source and blog, featuring articles on Honors classes, professors, students and their research, events, speakers, alumni, and more. It helped students, alumni, faculty, and parents keep updated about what's going on at Honors, whether it be what students did over the summer or who graduated with full University Honors. Periplus was founded as a print newsletter in 2009. In 2019, it was reborn as a website at www.periplusuncw.org.

In 2020, Periplus was retired in favor of focusing on telling the stories of the Honors College through our website, social media, and video clips.

Periplus was distributed to current and future students, parents, alumni, and members of the community surrounding Honors. It updated all interested parties about the goings-on in Honors, from College-wide events like the Spring Speaker to individual students' accomplishments. It also served as a chronicle of how Honors grew and changed over the years--a living archive that was made by and reflective of Honors students.

From 2020 onward, we carry on the story of Honors through multimedia paths, primarily across social media. Keep up with Honors on Instagram or Facebook
