The Legend of La Befana

The Department of Communication Studies is hosting performances of "The Legend of La Befana: The Italian Christmas Witch" at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 12 in Leutze Hall's black box theater.

In Italy, La Befana is more famous during the winter holiday season than St. Nick. Written by Professor Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock, the script puts a new twist on the legend, explores the origins of the story, and offers original songs set to folk melodies. The production includes a talkback with the audience about the legend and the process to bring it to life.

Students in the Applied Cultural Performance course form the cast, crew, marketing and production teams for this interdisciplinary performance. The event is free and open to the public, but attendees should RSVP.
