Taro Takizawa, UNCW assistant professor of art, specializes in printmaking, wall vinyl installations, drawings and 2D designs. His work blends both Western and Eastern aesthetics, with a deep appreciation for traditional printmaking processes and the art of mark-making. Takizawa is fascinated by the fusion of contemporary studio practices with traditional methods, exploring the boundaries between printmaking and installation art.
"Undercurrents," an exhibition of his work, will be on view in the Cultural Arts Building Gallery from Jan. 15 to Feb. 11. Takizawa will give an artist talk at 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 in room 2033. An opening reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
