The Applied Learning Summer Institute

ETEAL's Applied Learning Summer Institute is a multi-day UNCW conference and presentation series on Applied Learning that allows faculty to discuss best practices, exchange ideas, and train with nationally recognized experts. At the Summer Institute, you'll get a chance to explore applied learning concepts, engage in applied learning firsthand, network with colleagues and potential collaborators, and hone your applied learning skills. The Summer Institute is also an excellent way to get a pre-semester boost of enthusiasm about new pedagogies and motivate yourself to start the new academic year strong!

The Applied Learning Teaching Community

Organized in partnership with the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Center for Faculty Leadership, the Applied Learning Teaching Community (ALTC) is a collaborative network of Faculty, Staff, Graduate Assistants, and other UNCW Instructors who engage in Applied Learning discourse and share their experiences, ideas, best practices, and advances in Applied Learning.

ETEAL Experiences

Each semester, ETEAL funds courses, experiences, and other projects led by faculty and designed to bring Applied Learning Experiences directly to UNCW students. These experiences provide them with hands on, real world training and the skills they need to be professionally competitive in their field and in their future.

Social Entrepreneurship

Social Entrepreneurship is a model of entrepreneurship that seeks to engage the community and address a social problem through a sustainable business plan. Partnering with offices across UNCW and beyond, ETEAL helps support and promote the Social Entrepreneurship efforts of faculty and students. Social Entrepreneurship is an excellent way to bring your project or business plan to life while making a positive impact on your local community!

Applied Learning Strategic Initiatives

The Applied Learning Strategic Initiatives Program forms part of UNCW’s portfolio of programs, projects, and operations designed to optimize applied learning objectives as outlined in the Chancellor’s Strategic Plan and advanced by campus stakeholders. The Applied Learning Strategic Initiatives Program will support team-based projects that require increased resources and longer time horizons to implement. Awardees may receive up to $10,000 per fiscal year for up to three consecutive years

SURCA - Undergraduate Research Awards

In Partnership with CSURF and the Honors College, ETEAL provides funding to support faculty-mentored, student-driven undergraduate scholarship through the Summer Undergraduate Research and Creativity Awards. SURCA supports undergraduate research and creative scholarship in every discipline and department, both for experienced students and those who are just beginning their academic career at UNCW.
