As an Engineering Expectations Day Instructor you will help guide our students into a world full of engineering challenges. Instructors will need to be familiar with general engineering principles, including science, technology, and math. Instructors will be responsible for leading project based activities by guiding students through the engineering design process.


  • Provide instruction for campers ages 8-17
  • Supervise campers in the classroom, in the field, and during lunch
  • Provide first aid to campers
  • General set up, clean up, and maintenance of camp classroom
  • Behavior management of students
  • Ensure Youth Programs policies, safety expectations, and staffing ratios are carried out at all times


  • Must be able to lead and participate in challenging and new learning experiences
  • Must have strong oral communication skills to communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff
  • Must demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities
  • Must have previous experience and desire to work with children
  • Must have strong knowledge about STEM, engineering is a plus
  • Preference for instructor candidates is to either be college students majoring in engineering, licensed NC teachers in a classroom teaching science, math, or technology, or a high school student with experience in science Olympiad, robotics, etc.
  • CPR/First Aid is required (must be obtained before camp starts)

Terms of Employment:

  • June 15th through July 31st, Monday through Friday (potential for limited or no hours during July 4th holiday and low camp enrollments)
  • Mandatory training during the week of June 8th
  • Average work week is 40 hours from 8:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday
  • Pay rate starts at $8.00/hr, dependent on qualifications up to $15.00/hr
  • Employment is subject to a criminal and Homeland Security background check.
