Professional Development System

Rebecca Ham

I attended Columbus County Schools as a student and graduated from the school system in 1999. In 2003, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. It was my passion to return to the school system that invested in my education and began my career.  I have worked in the Columbus County School district at Acme Delco Elementary School for the past sixteen years. I started my career as a classroom teacher where I quickly found a love for supporting new teachers.  I became a partnership teacher and PDS site coordinator for the school. In 2008, I earned my National Board Certification.  Nine years ago, I moved outside of the general education classroom into the position of K-5 Teacher Leadership Specialist at the school. Shortly after beginning the new position, I completed my Master's in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University. I enjoy mentoring beginning teachers and providing a support system for veteran teachers through creating and delivering professional development. I specialize in K-2 literacy and supporting teachers with how to teach struggling readers. I would love to continue to grow professionally by enhancing my knowledge in the area of technology integration within the classroom setting.
