February 25, 2019

In preparation for upcoming CAEP conference, Assessment Office Data Analyst, Jessica Rivenbark attended a meeting at UNCC for the North Carolina CAEP Session. This session was presented by Malina Monaco, NCSU College of Education’s Director of Knowledge Management, and Erin Horne, Assistant Director of Professional Education and included a deep dive into the standards.

January 11, 2019

EdTPA Local Evaluator training was offered for EPP faculty and PDS partner teachers.  The training was led by National EdTPA scorer training offered and facilitated by Sarah Cannon, National edTPA Academy Consultant.

July 10, 2018

A team including Master Teachers (PDS Partner Teachers), Assessment Fellows (departmental faculty representatives), recent Educator Preparation Program (EPP) graduates, and WCE Assessment Office staff collaborated on the development of a Suite of EPP Survey instruments.

June 20, 2018

EPP faculty participated in the UNCW Critical Friends Professional Development offered by Courtney Sanders and Jaci Webb-Dempsey (assessment directors for CAS and CHHS, CSB and WCE, respectively).  The two-day training sessions walked participants through the central components of program and student learning outcomes assessment, provided support for the improvement of program assessment plans and reports, and created opportunities for faculty to collaborate and share best practices.

June 18, 2018

A team including Master Teachers (PDS Partner Teachers), Assessment Fellows (departmental faculty representatives), recent Educator Preparation Program (EPP) graduates, and WCE Assessment Office staff collaborated on the development of a new Intern Performance-Based Assessment rubric. The new rubric is aligned with the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards, the INTASC Standards and the CAEP Standards, as well as the existing Intern Performance Scale.

Faculty from all WCE/EPP programs came together at a Program Assessment Workshop to examine program assessment practices and UNCW's Quality Assurance System. Courtney Sanders, Director of Assessment for the College of Arts and Sciences facilitated a workshop focused on developing a program mission statement and student learning outcomes.   The Director of Program Assessment, Accreditation, and Development facilitated programs’ analysis of pilot edTPA results and the development of plans for embedded support for edTPA implementation

April 11, 2018

Consultants from NC State's Collaborative on Research, Evaluation, and Accreditation in Teacher Education (CREATE) team visited campus to lead planning sessions related to UNCW’s Quality Assurance System (QAS) development . Malina Monaco, NCSU College of Education’s Director of Knowledge Management, and Erin Horne, Assistant Director of Professional Education, met with Assessment Office staff, the WCE Assessment Fellows, and members of the Leadership Team to inform recommendations for the QAS and UNCW’s accreditation process

The Office of Teacher Education sponsored a half-day Teacher Education Retreat with a focus on establishing common themes across standards and common student learning outcomes across programs.

Faculty gathered for a full-day edTPA Implementation Workshop to integrate and embed assignments related to the edTPA across their program curricula. Consultants from Chapel Hill (Diana Lys) and NC State (Sarah Cannon) shared their experiences with the implementation process and offered guidance and support to program teams.   

April 6-7, 2017

Faculty and staff members attended the Southeastern Regional edTPA Implementation Conference in Raleigh, NC. This conference was open to all stakeholders in teacher preparation who work for or with Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) across the southeastern region who are (or will be) participating in edTPA. The conference offered workshops, panels, presentations, and discussions to welcome the edTPA novice and advanced practitioner alike. Faculty, staff, university supervisors, and P-12 partners were invited and provided opportunities to share, to learn, and to connect.

The Office of Teacher Education and Outreach hosted a full day Educator Preparation and edTPA Retreat to examine the DPI program templates, and work in teams to analyze the requirements for common student learning outcomes.
