Campus Dining Experience: Spring 2021

Dining on campus will look and feel different – but in a positive way!

With an emphasis on cleaning, sanitization and safety at all of our dining locations, additional options for a freshly made to-go meal via mobile ordering at two dining hall and two retail locations, partnering with more local Food Trucks, as well as offering more freshly made grab-and-go meals at our convenience stores. These additions will only benefit our students, especially our meal plan holders.

Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Each location maintains a variety of tools and processes designed to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness are maintained at all times. Each associate has a Day-At-A-Glance Tool to guide them of specific cleaning requirements for every station and space. 
  • Substantial and ongoing hand hygiene training, an increased schedule of mandatory hand washing (every 20 minutes) and appropriate use of PPE (gloves).
  • Specified chemicals are designed specifically for food service environments. Diversey Quat- Sanitizer has the highest possible rating for efficacy. Every location also maintains an inventory of Oxivir TB Wipes, a CDC approved disinfectant for the pathogen treatment of spaces that have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

Social Distancing

  • Reduced dining room seating based on CDC and NCDHHS guidelines
  • New and expanded outdoor seating
  • Socially Distant Queuing lines: six-foot distancing floor decals for queuing lines at our busiest retail location (Fisher University Union)

Face Coverings

  • Recent research has shown that face coverings play an important part in preventing the spread of COVID. Therefore, at UNCW, face coverings will be required for all faculty, staff and students for indoor movement and when participating in meetings, events, classes, gatherings, in shared spaces, and when doing research with others. 
    • Face coverings must be worn when picking up food. If dining indoors, face coverings should only be removed at the table when eating.

Expansion of Food Truck Partners and Grab-and-Go Options

  • Partnerships with several local food trucks to be on campus, offering students the ability to receive fresh, made-to-order local meals from our valued community partners. 
  • NEW option to use a Teal Meal at Convenience Stores for a freshly made grab-and-go meal

How to Sign-up for Campus Dining on Grubhub (PDF):
  • Download Grubhub and create a new account or sign in if you already have Grubhub downloaded
  • On your Account page, select the Settings (gear icon) at the top right
  • In your Settings, click on Campus Dining
  • Select University of North Carolina Wilmington and your school affiliation
  • Add campus card (UNCW One Card) or go directly to the list of on campus restaurants
Campus Payment Methods on Grubhub:
  • Select Meal Swipe Menu when ordering to use All Access Meals, F/S Meals and Teal Meals
  • Select Regular Menu when ordering to use Food Dollars or Seahawk Bucks
