The Shellfish Research Hatchery at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates conducting research on shellfish genetics, pathology and aquaculture.

The postdoctoral associate will conduct field and laboratory research related to one or more major themes: shellfish genetics, pathology and aquaculture. In addition, the individual will contribute to the day to day functioning of the lab, publish research results in peer reviewed journals, write grants to support research, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Marine Biology, Marine Science or a related discipline with experience in the appropriate discipline. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), experience in field and laboratory methods, familiarity with genetic analysis and/or disease diagnostics, and a record of publication.
