Sheri Shaw shaws@uncw.edu |
Sheri Shaw joined the Student Success Center in 2016 as assistant dean for student success. She began her academic career at Illinois, where she created the award-winning Mannie L. Jackson Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program within the College of Applied Health Sciences. After Illinois, she worked at Drexel University in the LeBow College of Business as the director of undergraduate student services, overseeing the implementation of the award winning LeBow BRIDGE academic enrichment program. Ashley has been in the SSC since 2015 and was promoted to pre-health coordinator in August 2022. She is responsible for developing and managing pre-health pipeline initiatives, coordinating pre-health coaches across campus, coaching declared UNCW students pursuing admission to medical and allied health advanced and terminal degree programs, developing programming to serve current pre-health students and alumni, and collaborating with local, state, and national partners to provide opportunities to pre-health students through established networks. Ashley is passionate about providing inclusive student support services, while both advocating for and empowering students to achieve their goals as future healthcare professionals. Claudia Mendoza joined the CHHS Student Success Center and Pre-Health Programs teams in January 2023. Claudia assists Pre-Health Programs with administrative needs in addition to supporting pre-health coaching, the iHEAL summer camp, and Pre-Health Programs events. Claudia is a December 2022 UNCW graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration and an International Business Concentration. Prior to graduation, Claudia worked within CHHS in the Business Core Service Team as the Lead Student Office Assistant for a year and a half. Claudia is bilingual in Spanish and conversational in French. |

Jenna has been in the SSC since August 2022 and was promoted to assistant director for advising for online accelerated programs (OAP) in January 2023. She partners with the assistant dean for student success and academic advising to oversee and support the day-to-day OAP academic advising, management, and student success functions for the SSC, including oversight of academic advising practices, policies, retention efforts, assessment, outreach and team supervision. |

Alex joined the Student Success Center in January 2023. She supports the CHHS SSC internal operations, including programming, Dean’s Student Leadership Advisory Council, RESJ, and SSC Novant grant-supported initiatives. Additionally, Alex works alongside Pre-Health Programs with the iHEAL summer camp and pre-health programs. She is a 2022 UNCW graduate (public health and Spanish) and previously worked at the Hundley Health Center and held several leadership positions on campus and within the Upperman African American Cultural Center. Alex is bilingual in Spanish and plans to pursue the Peace Corps. |

Linda Kleckner has been with UNCW since 2005, having started at the School of Nursing's Student Services Office, then transitioning to the Student Success Center when the School of Nursing became a part of the College of Health and Human Services in 2012. She provides administrative support to the advisors in the Student Success Center. |
