We have over 2100 alumni, many of whom are living right here in Southeastern North Carolina caring for and serving our community. We are proud to say our graduates are well above average, having one of the highest alumni employment rates at 93%. Alumni from the School of Nursing have gone on to distinguish themselves in their professional careers through a variety of positions across the healthcare continuum.

Rachael Beatty, 2013 AlumEvery year, the UNCW Alumni Association recognizes alumni and friends for their outstanding achievements and services to the university and community. Like a true Seahawk, Rachael makes a difference in her community through volunteering. She is an active member in the Junior League of Wilmington, where she serves as chair of the Bargain Sale and One Day Committees. Jennifer Payton, UNCW 2018 SON Outstanding Alumni Award

Blaise Bolan, AlumCongratulations to Jennifer Payton (May ’96) for being named SON Alumnus of the Year.  She has devoted the past 20 years caring for patients with kidney disease and has served her patients through numerous roles as a hemodialysis nurse, nurse educator, nephrology clinical specialist, home dialysis coordinator.  More...


School of Nursing Outstanding Alumnus Award

The UNCW School of Nursing Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award is presented at the annual Nurses Day Banquet in May. Alumni who are chosen must have graduated in 2014 or prior and exemplify the spirit of excellence in nursing directly working with patients along with providing service to their community. Nominations are accepted from alumni, faculty, staff and community members. Nomination forms open in Feburary of each year, and can be obtained from this site. Submit News to the School of Nursing Newsletter

In support of the School of Nursing vision statement, we hope to recognize excellence in education, practice and research of our faculty, staff and students. One means of communicating this recognition is through a School of Nursing newsletter, which is posted to the School of Nursing website four times during the academic year.
