Michel Heijnen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor

Michel HeijnenMichel J.H. Heijnen earned his Ph.D. in Biomechanics from Purdue University in 2016 and a B.S from Zuyd University in 2010. Dr. Heijnen teaches biomechanics, research methods, has co-led a study abroad trip to one of Blue Zones (areas in world with a high percentage of centenarians), and has mentored numerous students in undergraduate research and honors projects.

Dr. Heijnen’s research has focused on understanding the underlying causes of falls in young adults to develop a baseline to which balance compromised groups can be compared. He has examined falls from two perspectives, including laboratory and field observations.
