CHHS to Launch Master of Science in Athletic Training Program in Summer 2020

10/19 - CHHS is transitioning its undergraduate athletic training program to the Master’s degree level.  The first cohort for the new program is beginning in Summer II of 2020. The MSAT program will consist of 5 semesters of didactic class work (60 credit hours) in conjunction with over 1000 hours of clinical integration.

Athletic Training Program Coordinator, Steve Zinder, said the program is designed to prepare students for a successful career as a qualified health care professional. “The transition to the Master’s degree level will be extremely beneficial to the profession of Athletic Training,” Zinder said. “It will more strategically align us with other health care professions, and better prepare our students for their transition to clinical practice in an ever-changing health care environment.” The program will offer an innovative curriculum that will be highlighted with clinical opportunities throughout the region.

The program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) through 2028.

Alumni from UNC Wilmington’s public health and exercise science programs are perfect candidates for this graduate degree and invited to explore more here.
