Cascade is UNCW's web content management system (CMS). To become a web content manager of an official UNCW website, the Cascade Basic Training must be completed. Any faculty, staff, or graduate student can attend the trainings. Training dates and resources are available here: uncw.edu/web.

The CHHS Marketing and Communications team provides support and troubleshooting assistance and can help you integrate new pages and add-ons such as accordions, slideshows, social media embeds, etc.

Website Best Practices

  • Keep your information current. Refresh language regular and remove past calendar items.
  • Use images that are relevant and reflect your program’s values and priorities.
  • Emphasize your strengths and achievements – not just of staff and faculty – but of students and alumni too.
  • Make it easy for viewers to view the information you’re sharing.
  • Remember, the fewer the clicks to find the information, the better! Follow the path they have to take to get to the information. Do they have to leave your site to find the information? Avoid bouncing the user around to get the information they need.
  • Develop content that will get “likes” and “shares.” Ideally, pages on your website can and should be shared on social media.
