Membership Information

To utilize the Student Recreation Center, members must have a valid UNCW One Card. If you do not have your one card your options are:

  • Retrieve your UNCW One Card
  • Be sponsored as a guest, and purchase a $10 guest pass 
    • Must have valid picture ID (i.e., drivers license).
  • Mon-Fri, prior to 4:30 p.m., go to Auxiliary Services and purchase a replacement ID.

Student Access

  • UNCW students are members of the SRC during sessions in which they are enrolled, upon payment of student recreation fees.
    • Note: Students taking all online classes may not have been required to pay the mandatory student fees and will be given the option to purchase a membership (see prices below) for access to utilized the Campus Recreation facilities and services.
    • For membership options please contact the Student Recreation Center Main Office at 910.962.7443.
  • Student must have a valid, working UNCW One Card to utilize the SRC. Students without their One Card may use the above options for entry.
  • Membership is a privilege that may be modified or revoked at the discretion of the Department of Campus Recreation and the University.
  • All memberships are non-transferable.

Summer Student Access

  • Students enrolled in summer classes and paying student recreation fees will have access to the SRC during the summer session in which they are enrolled. 
  • If the student is not enrolled in summer classes but still want to utilize the SRC, a membership can be purchased in the main office.

University Employee Access

The following university employees are currently eligible for membership to the SRC as a university-sponsored privilege:
- Permanent faculty/staff
- Part-time faculty/staff
- Temporary (with valid ID and verified length of employment from supervisor)
- Retirees

To ensure ID activation, faculty and staff who desire access to the Student Recreation Center are asked to opt in to have their ID activated. Staff can visit the Campus Recreation office in the SRC to complete enrollment forms or complete the Membership Application and User Agreement and forward to the Campus Recreation Office mail box # 5923.

Once an application, user agreement and informed consent form have been completed. These employees need only to present their current staff ID card for access. This access is sponsored at the university level on an annual basis. It is subject to change. It is not a state benefit guaranteed with employment.

Spouse (Fac/Staff), Adjunct, Visiting Faculty or Affiliate (Contract)

These individuals are eligible for a membership to use the SRC. The SRC does not allow these individuals to purchase memberships for dependent children or other family members.  Spouses of Faculty (Permanent, Part Time, Temp), Staff and Retirees are the only ones permitted to purchase a membership.

Permanent or retired employees may have their spouses membership payroll ducted monthly.

  • To purchase a membership a dependent ID card must be purchased from Auxiliary Services ($20). Auxiliary Services Spouse/Dependent Policy requires the UNCW employee/retiree to be present when obtaining an ID for family members.
  • Once an ID is obtained an application must be completed in the Campus Recreation office located in the SRC. Campus Recreation Membership Policy requires the UNCW employee/retiree to be present when obtaining a membership for their spouse.

Above membership prices are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

Payment options include cash, check, credit card (visa/mastercard) UNCW One card, or monthly payroll deduction.

Guests and Children/Dependent Access

Guest Policy

Guest passes allow individuals who are not members, who are 18 years or older, to utilize the Student Recreation Center, Gazebo Field Complex and Recreation Field Complex.  Guests with a current valid government issued photo ID and UNCW sponsor with valid membership may purchase a guest pass for one day for $10.

  • Minors must be with a parent or guardian at all times.
  • UNCW students & members may sponsor up to two guests

Minors (Non-UNCW Students)

  • Minors are permitted from 4pm Friday through 5pm Sunday (during the academic year). This is due to the high volume of usage by our currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff.
    • During university breaks and summer sessions, family hours are extended to all open facility hours.
    • Members may purchase a guest pass for minors under 18 during these times to use the SRC for $10 per guest visit (max 2 guests).
  • Adult sponsors must participate with, or directly supervise and closely watch minors at all times in all areas of the Rec Center.
  • Minors over the age of 16 may participate in any daily fitness class with an adult’s direct supervision and/or participation.
  • Minors under age 16 may not use the weight and fitness room or any cardiovascular machines at any time.
  • Minors participating in scheduled, programmed activities (e.g., camps, lessons, parties, tournaments) may use the Student Recreation Center during that activity only. These activities must be scheduled through the Department of Campus Recreation.
  • Members are expected to be familiar with the age restrictions posted in each activity are of the SRC.
  • Swim Lessons
    • When you arrive for your swim lession please check in with the member services desk and they will contact the swim instructor to escort your group to the pool. 


  • Visitors who come to tour the facility without a UNCW tour guide must stop by the Member Services desk to obtain a guest lanyard. If available, a guided tour by a Campus Recreation team member is preferred. Visitors may not participate in any activity.

Entrance/Exit Policy

Entry and exit of facilities must be through the designated main entrance and exit.  Individuals entering or exiting through non-designated doors are subject to disciplinary action.


UNCW Alumni Access

Alumni may purchase a guest pass without a sponsor upon presenting a valid UNCW Alumni One Card. Alumni are only able to sponsor themselves and not an additional guest.

An Alumni One Card may be purchased from Auxiliary Services. An ID form must be completed with Auxiliary Services and requires a $20.00 fee. This fee is paid to Auxiliary Services only. Campus Recreation does not receive any funds from this fee.
