Seahawk Fitness offers nationally certified personal trainers who will create a safe and customized fitness program to help you attain your personal goals. Personal Training is available to current students, faculty, staff, and members. Trainers will educate, motivate, and maximize your workout experience with the proper focus, goals, and accountability that you desire. You can work one on one with a personal trainer, with a friend, or even in a small group!

Meet the Personal Training Staff

Dylan Amorocho

Dylan is an Exercise Science major from Washington, NC. His specialties are strength and conditioning, and functional training. Dylan is a personal trainer because he wants to show people the power of exercise as medicine.

Will Anthony

Will is a Biology major from High Point, NC. His specialties are: conditioning, resistance training, stability training, and hypertrophy training. His training philosophy is very similar to the principles of the ACE fitness model in that one must first establish stability and flexibility. Then move towards mobility with functional movements, and improve those functional movements through resistance training. Cardiorespiratory exercise, although not favored by most people, is also a crucial aspect to any training program and should be implemented accordingly. 

Lexi Beaudet

Lexi is an Exercise Science major from Wake Forest, NC. Her specialties are conditioning and performance training. She is a personal trainer because she believes competing is part of human nature, and the best competition is yourself. The potential of the human body is far more than what most people believe, which is why she likes to push people past what they think is possible during training.

Kyle Dwyer

Kyle is a Geography major from New Jersey. His specialties are hypertrophy and functional training. Kyle's training philosophy is, "I want my clients to get to a point that they no longer need me to stay motivated and healthy."

Harrison Grant

Harrison is a Political Science major from Durham, NC. He is a personal trainer because he enjoys helping people achieve their fitness goals, just as others continue to help him. Harrison's specialty is strength training.

Jake Jones

Jake is an Exercise Science major from Rocky Mount, NC. Jake is a personal trainer because he loves learning about how the body prefers to move, and likes being able to use his knowledge to help people improve their quality of life any way I can. His specialties are: functional training, weight loss, and strength and conditioning.

Cody Leviner

Cody is an Exercise Science major from Monroe, NC. His specialties are: pplyometrics, stability and balance, functional and resistance training, weight loss, mobility, and conditioning. His training philosophy is, "Your body is your temple and you need to take care of it, what you do now will affect your future. I try to train my clients to just constantly keep moving. Being consistent with your fitness will create a healthier lifestyle physically, emotionally, and mentally."

Kevin Riggins

Kevin is an Exercise Science major from Virginia Beach, VA. His specialties are: weight loss, functional training, and water aerobics. Kevin's training philosophy is to train smarter, not harder, and that you truly get out what you put in — if you put forth the effort you will see results.

Melody Squires

Melody is a Public Health major from Wilson, NC. She is a personal trainer because she believes that diseases and illnesses can be prevented by exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. Her training philosophy is, "I believe that everyone should have access to a healthy lifestyle through fitness and exercise. My goal as a personal trainer is to be knowledgeable enough to modify anything to meet the needs of any client. I strive to lead people to believe that exercise is for loving your body instead of hating it; our bodies are machines and are capable of many amazing things!"

Cedric Vaughn

Cedric is a Public Health Major from Gibsonville, NC. His specialties are working with special populations and functional training. His training philosophy is: long term consistency beats short term intensity.

Sydney Williams

Sydney is an Education major from Charlotte, NC. Her training philosophy is, "I believe in being positive and looking at fitness as an all-encompassing idea. If you take care of your body by eating well, having an active lifestyle and believing in yourself, you can achieve any fitness goal." She is a personal trainer because she wants to help people meet their fitness goals, and promote living a healthy, active lifestyle.

Kylie Wright

Kylie is a Recreation Therapy major who was born in Okinawa, Japan and was raised all across the U.S. Her specialties are: HIIT training, circuit training, Tabata training, plyometrics, stability, and strength training.

Personal training sessions are non-transferable and non-refundable. Medical conditions, which cause a delay in completing purchased sessions beyond 90 days will be refunded if a physician's note is provided. All packages begin with a Fitness Assessment. Personal Training is available to current students, faculty, staff, and members.

*Small Group rates are listed as the per person cost. All group members must pay in full before assessments or sessions begin. 

Registration

Download a Personal Training registration packet here (PDF). Turn the completed application and payment for Personal Training sessions to Campus Recreation. You will be contacted by a Personal Trainer to schedule your initial assessment.

Training Policies

  1. Any current student, faculty/ staff, or member with a valid Student Recreation Center membership is eligible to hire a personal trainer.
  2. To sign up with a trainer, you must register and submit payment in the Campus Recreation Suite in the Student Recreation Center between business hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Once you register and payment has been successfully received, your trainer will contact you via e-mail or phone within 2 business days
  3. All sessions will be conducted at the UNCW Student Recreation Center by current Department of Campus Recreation Personal Training staff only.
  4. All training sessions will be a maximum of 60 minutes in length.
  5. There are no penalties if cancellations are made at least 24 hours in advance for a personal training session or fitness assessment appointment. You may contact your trainer directly or call 910-962-7443 between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Every effort will be made to reschedule a training session according to the mutual availability of the client and trainer.
  6. Failure to show up to a scheduled appointment or tardiness of 15 minutes or more will result in forfeiture of one appointment or session. Sessions that start late will still end at the scheduled time.
  7. Training packages expire at the end of the semester that they were purchased, unless otherwise approved for extension by the Fitness Coordinator and/or Assistant Director. To request an extension you must contact Sarah Gilbert via e-mail or phone at 910-962-4168. All unused sessions will be forfeited.
  8. Your initial session will be a Fitness Assessment. Packages purchased that are 8 sessions or greater will receive a post assessment free of charge.
  9. All personal training fees must be paid in full prior to starting program. Trainers may not accept any direct or additional payment for their services.
  10. Some clients may require medical clearance (PDF) from a physician prior to starting an exercise program. You will be notified if medical clearance is needed.
