Hurricane Florence Meal Plan and Parking Impacts for University Apartments

Due to the displacement of students from University Apartments, Auxiliary Services announced additional parking and meal plan changes for affected students. Please read below to review specific meal plan and parking details.

Parking Impacts

Students may choose to keep their current residential parking pass and park in their assigned area or return the pass to the Parking Office no later than 10/26/2018. Students without a pass may purchase a night and weekend parking pass to utilize when the shuttles are not operating. The Wave shuttle service will make regular stops at all off-campus locations, Golden Sands Hotel will continue to have shuttle service weekdays beginning at 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on a 1 hour loop.

Parking & Transportation Frequently Asked Questions:

I am being moved off campus. What do I do with my current residential parking permit?

  • You can keep it and continue to park in your assigned area for class or you can return it to the Parking office no later than 10/25/18 for a full refund (less $10.00 Admin fee)

What if I don’t have a parking permit?

  • If you are moving to Camden Forest, Aspire 349 or Wilshire Landing you can ride the Seahawk Shuttle to campus.
  • If you are moving to Golden Sands an hourly shuttle to campus will be operating Monday thru Friday.

Can I purchase a parking permit?

  • You can purchase a night and weekend parking permit for anytime you need to be on campus when shuttles are not operating.

What if I need to be on campus beyond the shuttle operation time?

What do I do if I have a question about Parking or the shuttles?

  • Just contact the Parking office and we will assist you with your questions or any special needs you may have.

Meal Plan Impacts

For University Apartments students being assigned to off campus housing as a result of the recent storm, we are offering the following options to help with your transition:

  • May keep your current meal plan or
  • May change to a prorated Block Meal Plan and keep your current food dollar balance – Please note changes to your meal plan need to be made by Monday, October 22, 2018.
Change from All Access 5:

For students with the All Access 5 plan moving to the prorated Block plan, the teal meal portion will be prorated to reflect the remaining 7.5 weeks in the semester or 52 meals.  You will receive a credit on your All Access 5 plan of $763.64 and be charged $450.00 for the remaining 52 teal meals for the remaining 7.5 weeks.  This will result in a total credit to the student’s account/eBill of $313.63.

Change from All Access 7:

For students with the All Access 7 plan moving to the prorated Block plan, the teal meal portion will be prorated to reflect the remaining 7.5 weeks in the semester or 52 meals.  You will receive a credit on your All Access 7 plan of $772.73 and be charged $450.00 for the remaining 52 teal meals for the remaining 7.5 weeks.  This will result in a total credit to the student’s account/eBill of $322.73.

For students being assigned to the Golden Sands Hotel: Due to distance and commuting time between the campus and Golden Sands Hotel; students assigned to this location may also opt to change to a smaller prorated Block Plan:

  • May keep their current meal plan or
  • May change to a smaller prorated Block Plan and keep their current food dollar balance - Please note changes to your meal plan need to be made by Monday, October 22, 2018.
Change from All Access 5:
  • For students with the All Access 5 plan moving to the smaller prorated Block plan, the teal meal portion will be prorated to reflect the remaining 7.5 weeks in the semester or 34 meals. You will receive a credit on your All Access 5 plan of $763.64 and be charged $312.75 for the remaining 34 teal meals for the remaining 7.5 weeks.  This will result in a total credit to the student’s account/eBill of $450.89.
Change from All Access 7:
  • For students with the All Access 7 plan moving to the smaller prorated Block plan, the teal meal portion will be prorated to reflect the remaining 7.5 weeks in the semester or 34 meals. You will receive a credit on your All Access 7 plan of $772.73 and be charged $312.75 for the remaining 34 teal meals for the remaining 7.5 weeks.  This will result in a total credit to the student’s account/eBill of $450.89.

Meal Plan Frequently Asked Questions:

What are my meal plan options?

  • You may keep your All Access 5 or All Access 7 Meal Plan for the remainder of the semester. These plans will follow the procedures for the meals credit and the Food Dollar credit on the Hurricane Florence Meal Plan Impacts website.
  • You may downgrade your meal plan to a prorated Block plan no later than October 22nd. The Block plan will allot students a quantity of teal meals and food dollars to be used for the remainder of the semester.
  • You may choose to cancel your meal plan no later than October 22nd.

How do I change or cancel my Meal Plan?

  • Email mealplans@uncw.edu from your UNCW email address with your student ID number and if you would like to cancel or change to the prorated Block plan no later than October 22nd.

How will I receive my Meal Plan credit if I chose to cancel or downgrade?

  • You will receive an email once the meal plan credit has been processed by the Meal Plan office in Auxiliary Services. The email confirmation will come from mealplans@uncw.edu.

When will the meal plan credit post to my student account?

  • Credits will appear on the student account under 'recent activity' 1-2 days after processing. Questions about student account credits and refunds can be directed to the Student Accounts and Cashiers Office at studentaccounts@uncw.eduor 910.962.4281.
