Due to impending inclement weather, Hooked on Arts has been cancelled for Saturday, July 13. We hope to still hold festivities on Sunday, July 14.

Futureshine Entertainment features the family friendly music of “Mr. Mark” aka Mark Dannon Herbert. For over 7 years Mr. Mark has been entertaining families across the Carolinas. Providing quality entertainment that inspires movement and learning, Mr. Mark incorporates a wide variety of styles to make his music unique. Available for private birthday parties to large events and festivals as well as music enrichment programing for preschools and grade schools.


Mr. Scooter aka Melvil Dewey 
Sunday, July 14 at 11 a.m. 

Mr. Scooter is a storyteller, rapper and children’s librarian from Wilmington, North Carolina.  He has released two children’s albums as Melvil Dewey – International Library Hip Hop Superstar and is the creator of Book Wrangler and Rap Battle of the Books.  Mr. Scooter is a Library Journal Mover and Shaker Innovator and NACO Award winner.  His work has been featured in School Library Journal and VOYA Magazine.

About the Festival 

Hooked on Arts Street Fair is a collaboration between the UNCW College of Health & Human Services and the UNCW Lumina Festival of the Arts, coming to campus this July 13-14! UNCW’S Hooked on Arts Street Fair celebrates the healing power of creativity. This family-friendly festival brings together art vendors, food trucks, free entertainment in the visual and performing arts, family fun and an opportunity to help the community. The festival aims to raise awareness about arts-based therapy and support of addiction-related services/community partners in the Cape Fear region.

Weather Policy: HOA shall be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 and Sunday, July 14, 2019, 10 am‐2 pm. In the event there is adverse weather forecasted for July 13 and 14, 2019 a determination will be made on July 12, 2019 by 11 AM to move the event to the following weekend, July 20 and 21, 2019. If there is adverse weather on July 13, 2019, the festival will be held solely on July 14, 2019. If there is adverse weather forecasted for July 14, 2019 a decision will be made by July 13 at 2 pm whether to cancel July 14, 2019 (subject to cancellation due to safety and/or UNCW pre‐scheduled events).
