High School Sophomores who aspire to be a Seahawk are invited to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Sophomore visit day, Soaring Sophomores, on Friday, April 20, 2018. Here at UNC Wilmington, we recognize that as a high achieving high school sophomore, you are eager to start your college search. We want to help make that process as smooth as possible, which is why we are happy to host you on campus for Soaring Sophomores. Sophomore students and their guests will have the opportunity to join us as we discuss our admissions process and resources available to all of our students at UNCW. 

Schedule & Sessions

Soaring Sophomores will provide students and their guests the opportunity to learn more about how to prepare for the college admissions process. Visitors should plan to check in outside Lumina Theater in the Fisher Student Center starting at 10:00 AM. The formal program will begin at 12:00 PM, with the last session ending by 3:30 PM. A comprehensive visit packet, including a detailed schedule, campus map and other materials will be available upon check-in.

Students and families will be able to participate in a full campus tour, an admissions overview, learn about career opportunities from UNCW’s Career Center and academic majors from UNCW's University College. Tips & What to Expect at Soaring Sophomores

Before you arrive, be sure you have prepared to the spend afternoon on-campus. Here are some pointers which will help you enjoy your stay:

  • Since the event takes place both indoors and outdoors, please be sure to dress comfortably. Some indoor facilities may be warmer or cooler than the temperature outside. Be prepared for a rain shower and wear comfortable shoes (you will be walking throughout the campus).
  • Light refreshments and beverages will be available during the day, and several on-campus dining locations will be open should you be interested in purchasing lunch. We recommend bringing cash, as some locations may be unable to accept bank or debit cards. Please plan accordingly.
