Our Bachelor’s Degree in Workforce Learning and Development is the program for you.

Whether you are a military careerist or considering to transition to civilian sector, Workforce Learning Development (WLD) program provides you with the skills and credentials you need to become an effective learning and development specialist. Moreover, this program is well suited for those who have served in instructor-based positions or held manpower related special duty assignments or those who aspire to hold such positions.

UNCW maintains strong ties to the military through the Office of Military Affairs, and WLD program recognizes the value of your everyday responsibilities by translating your military experience into academic credit.  You can earn up to 24 transfer credits for your military training and experience.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Workforce Learning and Development program enables you to advance your career to the next level by helping you develop the necessary skills and credentials in leadership, training development and facilitation, emotional intelligence, and effective communication. WLD program is intentionally designed to promote flexibility, hands-on learning, application, and learning communities. Our WLD program is developed to based on the ATD’s Talent Development Capability Model. The learning outcomes of each course are aligned with the knowledge, skills, and abilities you need to be an effective learning and development specialist.

To ensure a high-quality online learning experience for our learners, WLD courses are designed based on Quality Matters standards.

Our WLD courses are purposefully designed to engage learners in hands-on, meaningful learning experiences. Our dedicated and responsive faculty will provide you with authentic learning opportunities to expand and refine your skill sets.

How to Apply

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be admitted into the Workforce Learning and Development Online Accelerated Program:
  1. Meet UNC system high school minimum course requirements (Applicants who are 21 years of age or older or who have completed 24 hours of transferable undergraduate credits are exempt from this requirement)
  2. Have completed or enrolled in 24 transferable undergraduate credit hours.
  3. Have a cumulative 2.4 college GPA.
  4. Be eligible to return to the last institution attended.
Apply to the Workforce Learning & Development program using the Online Accelerated Programs application:
  • Step-by-Step Application Instructions
  • Log in or create an account in the UNCW Application Portal.
  • Start a new application by selecting the current application year and the Online Accelerated Programs application type.
  • On the Application Information tab, select the Workforce Learning & Development (OAP) major. Please carefully select your desired start term on the application. After applying, any modifications to the start term can only be made by reapplying.
  • Application fees are currently waived for the Workforce Learning & Development program. Your application fee will be automatically waived after your application is received.

The Office of Admissions requires the following official transcripts:
  • An official high school transcript showing your date of graduation or proof of a GED or Adult High School Diploma (not required for applicants who have already completed a Bachelor’s degree and are seeking a second Bachelor's degree)
  • An official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended
  • An official military transcript (if applicable)

To be considered official, transcripts must come directly from the institution or be in a sealed envelope. Transcripts may be sent before application submission but must be received by the deadline for the application term.
