School Administration Program Overview

Leaders with Vision

The School Administration add-on licensure program begins the journey for school personnel who already hold a master’s degree to become K-12 school principals. Program materials and experiences focus on school leadership, organizational theory, innovation and best practices. Students work together to apply theories to real situations in schools.

Educators who complete this licensure program will be effective educational leaders who can inspire, engage and lead others towards a common vision. The School Administration program is aligned with National PSEL Standards and the NC Standards for School Executives (NSSE). Students receive high-quality learning experiences designed and delivered by expert faculty.

Flexible Program Design

The school administration program is offered fully online through interactive and engaging formats. From personalized feedback on discussion boards to interacting with professors and guest speakers via webinar, students can feel connected as they prepare to become school administrators.

Student Learning Outcomes

After completion of the School Administration program, graduates will be professionals who:

  • Foster a school vision that respects community values and are guided by empirical evidence of effective practices
  • Evaluate student and teacher performance consistently and continuously and modify practices as necessary
  • Support and value the contribution of a school’s culture in achieving exemplary student performance
  • Encourage respectful relationships between and among all of the school’s stakeholders and respond to critical needs
  • Create an effective and innovative learning environment reflecting high quality instruction in a safe and orderly setting
  • Lead in the selection, evaluation, and implementation of effective curricula
  • Identify organizational strengths and areas in need of improvement
  • Make decisions and allocate resources rationally on the basis of evidence and/or demonstrated need
  • Act with integrity and fairness in dealings with students, faculty, staff and the larger learning community
