The 30-credit-hour program leading to the Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) with specialization in Elementary Education provides advanced professional study for individuals who hold, or are qualified to hold, a North Carolina Class "A" teaching license in early childhood education and/or elementary education. This accelerated degree program enables candidates to expand their current knowledge of the field of Elementary Education at the graduate level. The target audience is certified elementary teachers seeking to deepen their theoretical knowledge and pedagogical expertise in order to advance their professional practice.

Elementary Education M.Ed. Program Overview

This program is designed for certified K-6 teachers seeking to expand their knowledge in the field of elementary education at the graduate level. In addition to advanced study of content in the areas of Science, Math, Social Studies and Language Arts, participants will learn to design and implement effective instruction with particular emphasis on integrated curriculum and active learning strategies.

The program will prepare you to be more effective in the classroom and help open doors to greater responsibility as a leader in your school or district.

Flexible Program Design

Our innovative online format helps you complete your graduate degree as flexibly and conveniently as possible through asynchronous seven-week courses and six start dates a year.

All students will complete 30 hours of coursework and a capstone portfolio.
