AIG Add-On Licensure Program Overview

Enhance Your Skills

This program is designed for certified K-12 teachers and education leaders seeking to improve their knowledge and expertise in the field of gifted education. The program will prepare you to design and deliver effective programs and services for gifted and talented students. Program graduates will be able to design curriculum and programs, advocate for gifted students, and deliver instruction that meets the broad spectrum of exceptional needs of gifted and talented students.

Earn Add-on Licensure and a Master’s Degree

Program participants will complete 12 hours of coursework. Courses are offered entirely online in half-term sessions during the fall and spring semesters to accommodate the schedules of practicing teachers. Successful completion of the program will prepare you for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted Add-on Licensure to your current license.

All courses can be applied to the M.Ed. with Specialization in Academically or Intellectually Gifted degree requirements.

    Must hold a baccalaureate degree.
  4. Licensure: Must hold or be qualified to hold, NC class 'A' teacher licensure in at least one area of education.
  5. Financial Aid:  Non-federal loans are available for this program.  Admitted students may apply through the UNCW Scholarship Application to be considered for additional scholarships.  Please consult your Financial Aid Counselor for further details.
  6. Visa Sponsorship:  This program does not qualify for visa sponsorship.
