Application Requirements and due dates are listed on the general Master's in Psychology page linked below. Required materials are the same across all concentrations. Note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed and students are encouraged to have all materials submitted by the priority date for each academic year.
Application Requirements and Dates
In preparing your application, we recommend students carefully attend to the guidelines for the written statement and note potential faculty members or labs you would be interested in working with when describing your interest in graduate school. Your submitted written statement should reflect a) the areas of psychology in which you are interested; b) your career & educational goals immediately upon completion of the master’s degree; c) your long-term educational & career goals; d) how completion of this degree program will help you reach your career & educational goals; and e) any career-relevant experience you have had (e.g., instructional, research, computer skills, counseling, animal care, etc.). Note that you will also need to select a concentration program on your application; students who select concentrations that diverge from the interests in their written statements may be reviewed less favorably.
APA's Tips on Preparing Personal Statements
It is often helpful to review individual faculty and lab webpages to get a sense of ongoing research in the lab and any specific criteria they may consider when reviewing applications with their lab. However, as mentioned above, it is important to note that the Psychology Department uses an admissions committee to review all applications rather than an individual faculty review procedure. A list of faculty who are accepting graduate students is updated on our webpage each cycle.
