Partnership with Watson College of Education

The History Department's faculty members are proud of their partnership with the Watson College of Education in training and preparing the next generation of history and social studies teachers at primary, middle grades, secondary and post-secondary levels.

Future social studies high school teachers complete the 40-hour history major as well as additional coursework in political science, anthropology or sociology, geography and economics.

How Do I Earn The History B.A. With Teaching Licensure?

In addition to completing requirements for the major, history majors seeking licensure in social studies must complete the teacher education program requirements and a minimum of 21 collateral hours.

The 21 collateral hours needs to include PLS 101 and at least one course in each of the following areas (advisor approval required): economics, geography and sociology/anthropology.
