Human Service-Social Work (HS2SW)

Bachelor of Social Work

Earn your Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree online in as little as two years — perfect for working professionals. This unique program is designed for students who have completed a relevant Associate of Applied Science degree at a participating North Carolina community college to complete their bachelor’s degree in social work. 

Curriculum integrates social work knowledge, values, and skills by exploring human behavior and the social environment, generalist practice models, research, social policy, cultural differences and practices structured around conscious efforts and deliberate actions which are intended to create equal opportunities for all people on both an individual and system level. You'll also participate in a field practicum in your community during your senior year, and if possible, at your place of employment. Faculty research opportunities are also available.

Obtaining a BSW degree can help you qualify for advanced standing MSW programs, which can be completed in as little as a year.

Eligibility & Application Information

Students interested in applying to the program should submit an application as a Distance Education Transfer Student through the Office of Admissions’ Application Portal.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must:
  • Meet all University and transfer admission requirements.
  • Submit official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions to the Office of Admissions.
  • Provide an official final transcript verifying successful completion of an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services Technology or Associate of Applied Science in Social and Human Services degree from a North Carolina Community College.
