Admissions Information: Prelicensure

Students may take the TEAS admission assessment FOUR total times; however you may only take it once during each testing administration period.

  • The fall test administration period is July 2, 2023 – December 15, 2023 (for Fall 2024 admission)
  • The spring test administration period is December 16, 2022 – July 1, 2023 (for Spring 2024 admission)

You must register to take the TEAS well in advance. Your TEAS Score is valid for five years. 
If you have taken the TEAS multiple times, we will use the highest score achieved in the selection process for admitting students into the Pre-Licensure nursing program at UNCW. Specifically, we will use the “Adjusted Individual Total Score”. 

Testing at a non-UNCW testing center: You may take the TEAS at another testing center. If you choose to do this, you must send your test results to UNCW via ATI Testing prior to the end of the test administration period. The cost is $27 to have your TEAS sent to UNCW. 

Overview

The cost of the TEAS at UNCW is $100 (non-refundable) payable in advance. 

The TEAS Admission Assessment is approximately 3.5 hours and covers the following:

  • Mathematics – a four function calculator is allowed.
  • English and Language Usage
  • Reading
  • Science

Register to take the TEAS well in advance to ensure that you can take it within the test administration period.

Registering for the TEAS

Contact the UNCW Testing Services to schedule an appointment.

  • Spaces fill up quickly, so it is important that students reserve their spot early.
  • You will be asked to give your UNCW Student ID during registration, however, if you are not currently a UNCW student, please type in any 9 numbers (can be all 0’s). 
  • To take tests administered by University Testing Services, you must show a valid ID including picture and signature. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, passport, or active military ID. 
  • If you registered with accommodations, you must call the UNCW Testing Services office first.
  • Calculators are not allowed.
