Two Program Options
Master of Science in Clinical Research & Product Development
This fully-online program is perfect for professionals already working in the clinical research industry who wish to further their careers. Our didactic and rigorous curriculum prepares graduates for mid-to upper-level roles in the biopharmaceutical clinical research industry.
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Research Operations
This certificate program is ideal for individuals with a bachelor's degree who are interested in either entering the clinical research field or obtaining additional education to facilitate a move into a different area within the clinical research field including career progression.
UNCW degree programs satisfy the professional licensure and/or certification requirements in North Carolina and prepare students to sit for applicable exams. However, requirements in other states may be different. If you are considering a degree program that in order to qualify for a professional license and/or certification, please note that at this time UNCW may or may not be able to advise whether the program meets requirements outside of North Carolina. Prior to enrolling, please discuss this important topic with your program of interest.
Student Experience
All courses are online. Students may pursue the degree from any location. Flexible for working professionals.
Learn from faculty who have extensive research and industry experience, including clinical operations, monitoring, research ethics, project management, pharmacotherapeutics, regulatory affairs, medical writing, biostatistics, drug safety and pharmacoepidemiology.
Career Opportunities
Most graduates work for biopharmaceutical companies; contract research organizations (e.g., PPD/Thermo Fisher, Syneos Health, IQVIA, Fortrea, ICON, etc.); clinical research service providers or clinical sites enrolling clinical trial subjects; academic medical centers; government agencies; and other associated organizations.
Graduates are involved in:
Clinical trials necessary to move new drugs, biologics and biomedical devices through the regulatory process to obtain regulatory approval;
Post-marketing studies required for drug safety and used for label/market expansion.
