The Athletic Training Program in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
CAATE is the agency responsible for accreditation of professional Athletic Training programs. CAATE is sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
After the last comprehensive review, the UNCW Athletic Training Program was granted the maximum 10-year accreditation. The next comprehensive review is scheduled for 2028.
