The Future Teachers Career Academy at Isaac Bear Early College is a small learning community for high school students interested in a career in teaching. The innovative program is designed to attract and prepare future teachers to make a positive difference for children.
With opportunities to volunteer, teach, and experience education from many points of view, FTCA guides high school students to become leaders in their classrooms and schools. As an Academy member, you can:
- Work toward your dream of becoming a teacher from your first year in high school
- Be a part of a community of future teachers and UNCW student leaders
- Receive early advisor support in preparing your path to a career in education
- Attend college classes in Watson College of Education and receive priority consideration for admission
- Visit innovative schools around the region, state and nation
- Earn access to thousands of dollars in scholarships
- Work in New Hanover County Schools
