TuPortal STEM

Dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), TuPortalSTEM is a web portal is an initiative established by the North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) to raise awareness and increase access to information about STEM education, STEM career opportunities, and STEM programs and opportunities for Hispanic students and their families.

Share information about STEM opportunities in their "STEM Programs and Opportunities Highlights" section by completing and submitting a Share Your STEM Resources form. (You will first need to register your opportunity at the NC STEM Center.)
Burroughs Wellcome Fund Student STEM Enrichment Program (SSEP) awardees are eligible to receive limited Spanish translation services for recruitment materials or student surveys to help recruit Hispanic students. The NCSHP will accept translation requests on a case by case basis depending on staff availability and length of material.

Funding Opportunities

Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF): BWF offers funding opportunities which support primary and secondary students, science and mathematics teachers, institutions, and academic scientists.

Bright Ideas Education Grants: For 30 years, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have helped light up learning in K-12 classrooms statewide through the Bright Ideas education grant program. N.C. teachers with innovative ideas for creative learning projects can submit an online application annually.

North Carolina Farm Bureau: Provides agricultural outreach grants to North Carolina teachers through the Ag in the Classroom…Going Local grants that help educators provide Pre-K through collegiate level students with valuable, real-world education and experiences directly related to the agricultural industry and the NC Standard Course of Study.
