Graduate Programs

We offer several graduate programs to help professionals prepare for successful leadership roles at colleges and universities, with specializations available to individuals seeking leadership roles at North Carolina’s 58 community colleges.

Our higher education programs are designed for working professionals and offered in a cohort model.

Other distinctive features include intellectually challenging coursework, dedicated faculty with expertise in higher education and applied learning experiences, including internship opportunities provided through WCE’s extensive network of community college, college and university partners and a unique international internship offered in partnership with Maynooth University.

Higher Education Programs

Higher Education Specialization, M.Ed. Our Master of Education with specialization in Higher Education is designed for professionals looking to enter or advance a career in academic and/or student support roles in colleges and universities. Learn More
Educational Leadership (Higher Education), Ed.D. This program prepares graduates to continue to advance in their careers at postsecondary institutions as student affairs educators, administrative professionals in academic or student services, academic executive positions or key leadership roles in education-related organizations. Internship at Maynooth University UNCW’s Higher Education at Maynooth program provides students with meaningful opportunities to practice administrative and leadership work, conduct assessment or research-based projects, or develop educational or social programming for student and academic service units at an international institution of higher education. Community College Leadership Programs

Community College Leadership Certificate This 12-credit hour program is designed for community college administrators and faculty members. Courses focus on teaching and learning and provide an overview of the mission, functions and diversity among community college leadership. Organizational management, including policy and budgeting, is also covered. Learn More
Educational Leadership (Community College Leadership), Ed.D. A new Ed.D. specialization recognizes the unique opportunities and challenges our community college partners face as they seek to create career pathways for diverse learners. The program provides an in-depth study of the organization, administration, staffing, funding and student experience at North Carolina’s two-year postsecondary institutions. Learn More
