CMA offers year-round music instruction in the form of private lessons, classes, ensembles and workshops. Registration for each of these offerings is handled separately. The CMA schedule runs congruent with the academic and holiday schedules for UNCW.
Failure to adhere to these policies will result in dismissal from the CMA:
Applied Lesson Policies: Registration for private lessons occurs at the beginning of each UNCW semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) and tuition for lessons is to be paid entirely upfront or in a maximum of two payments. Summer tuition is due in one payment only. A $30 late fee will be assessed after the deadline. See payment schedule.
Make-up lessons will not be offered unless the instructor cancels a lesson. Lessons canceled by the instructor will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time. Make-up lessons for extreme circumstances are at the instructor's discretion. If a student is more than 10 minutes late to a lesson, the instructor is not required to extend the scheduled lesson time.
Tuition Payments: Payments can be made in the form of a personal check (made out to UNCW) or through secure online payment. Please note, the online payment system is automated and will close at midnight following each deadline. Families with multiple children should complete one registration for each child. A $15 registration fee is required for all CMA students each semester. This helps to pay for the use of the facilities and payment processing.
Tuition Information
No Refund Policy: The UNCW CMA has a no refund policy. Music instruction requires time, commitment and dedication. Registering for instruction with the UNCW CMA should be considered a contractual agreement between the student, parent and instructor. Should a student decide not to continue lessons, there will be no refund of the tuition paid.
Ensemble Policies: Policies for each ensemble will be set forth at the discretion of the respective directors. Please contact your ensemble director regarding their attendance/participation policies. Ensemble registrants will adhere to the cancellation policy of the UNCW CMA.
Facilities: The Cultural Arts Building is available to CMA students only during the times they are scheduled for lessons, rehearsals, classes and workshops, and will not be granted access at any other times.
Parking: Parking for CMA registrants is provided with registration. A parking pass will be issued via email upon registration. The parking pass is only valid for LOT Q (across Randall Dr. from the CAB. See campus map) and metered spaces in the CAB parking lot.
Photo/Audio/Video Release (including internet and print media): The UNCW CMA reserves the right, and may grant permission to the media, to photograph classes, performances, events, and its participants. Please note that these materials will only be used for current and future promotional purposes. By participating in the UNCW CMA private lessons, classes, ensembles, and workshops, you consent to the publication of these materials unless the CMA manager is expressly notified in writing.
