All CHHS Students on Academic Probation and on Academic Contract will participate in the CHHS P.A.C.E. to Academic Success Program.

The CHHS P.A.C.E. for Academic Success Program is intended to help you become more successful as a student.

Please note: This program is free and will not factor into the student’s GPA. However, successful completion of the program may be a factor in committee review of academic appeals.

Getting Started

First, complete the CHHS Academic Success and Planning Worksheet before the add/drop deadline for your specific program for the academic semester.

The personal component of the P.A.C.E. Program will allow you to reflect on the previous academic term.

Please view one of the TED talks provided. After viewing the TED talk, you will be prompted to reflect on your academic challenges and discuss an action you will complete to help facilitate academic success.

You are not alone! Your academic support community consists of your P.A.C.E. advisor, academic advisor, campus administrators, professors, and University Learning Center staff.

Student Checklist

• Make an appointment with your advisor before the withdrawal deadline
• In your advising appointment, you will discuss current classes, term and class successes and challenges and if necessary, academic options.
• Complete the Academic Course Update Form prior to your advising appointment

Please Note: Additional program components may be required by your P.A.C.E. Success Coach based upon individual student needs.

The career component of the P.A.C.E. Program will require you to reflect on your career intentions. You will have options to complete the career component.

A personal reflection will be required for the option selected.

Options

• Complete an Informational Interview with a professional in the area you are pursuing and/or the next level up in your profession and complete a thoughtful reflection on the experience Discuss challenges, opportunities, and process for career growth
• If you are still considering your professional interests, complete the ONET assessment, a tool that will allow you to think broadly and upward about your career interests and abilities and complete a thoughtful reflection on the experience. Please click to access the ONET Assessment.
• Visit the Career Center to discuss career opportunities and your professional interests with a Career Center Advisor and complete a thoughtful reflection on the experience. Please click here to access the UNCW Career Center, review student resources and to make an appointment.

The last component of the program, ENGAGE, is a culminating area. Throughout the P.A.C.E. for Academic Success Program, you have been asked to engage with campus administrators, professors, and to utilize resources and advisors for support.

As you approach the end of the session/semester, please complete the course update form noting exams, assignments, and goal for final course grades.

Additionally, please share the new skills developed over the semester/session. These can include, but are not limited to: time management, note taking and career knowledge expansion.
